This morning my buddy and I went for our Tuesday morning ride at Fremont Older. It was pretty cold out and we were both struggling to get warmed up, my legs where whining with every pedal stroke. We rode Toyon and then descended into Steven’s Creek on Coyote Ridge. At the bottom we turned around and climbed back out, half way up my buddy remarks, “You know the other day is was thinking, Mountain Biking is really hard!” I laughed and agreed, “If it was easy everyone would be doing it…” We then talked about how it’s good that it’s hard because it would totally suck if you had to buy a ticket to get on the mountain and wait in line to ride.
The thing I love about this sport is the number of different aspects it takes to be good. Strength, Endurance, Mental Fortitude and Balance. It’s something you can continuously work on and see incremental improvement, as painful as it can be the rewards are high. The days that I ride seem to be the best of my life.
