So it’s been a while since I’ve written anything. It’s not like I don’t have anything to write about but every time I get to a puter I get distracted with real work or keeping on in the latest happenings in the interweb. One thing I’ve been thinking about lately is my move this weekend and how much I’m going to miss my morning commute. Which probably sounds strange to most people. But I’ve grown pretty fond of my 30 mile a day riding habit. My new place is less then a mile away from work. I will still ride to the office on my bike but it just won’t be the same. I won’t be able to hold the badge of honor of riding 30 miles a day to work.
My plan to keep up my fitness is to start riding loops in the Sunnyvale area and work on my interval training (among other things). My hope is to be able to fit in a 30 mile ride in the mornings 3 days a week and 1 weekend ride. I suspect this will actually improve my fitness because I will have more rest days to recover. That’s the one thing I’ve been concerned with lately is that I’m not giving my body a chance to heal. My legs are constantly sore and I don’t seem to be getting any faster or loosing weight.
So tomorrow is my last commute day. I will have to say goodbye to my commuter friends:
- Goodbye Chinese slapping lady who stands on the side of the trail and slaps her body
- Goodbye retired Army guy who walks his scotty every morning
- Goodbye crossing guard lady who cracks a small smile when I wave at her but for the most part just gives me a stern look
- Goodbye bongo guy who plays near my house every evening
- Goodbye to all the Cyclist on San Thomas Expressway
I don’t personally know any of these people but I’ve grown accustom to waving at them when I pass by every day.
I'm just your average 30 something white geeky male who rides a bike and
